N A V Y (Never Again Volunteer Yourself)

Everyone is welcome to volunteer.  I just don't want to see volunteers tricked or obligated beyond their expectations.  There is nothing wrong with asking questions before committing.

Consider the following scenarios:

Adrian volunteers for the recreation committee only to find it involves inventorying all of the sporting equipment, board games, kitchen supplies, and cleaning up after events.  While she is capable of all the demands, she isn't interested in the inventorying, but feels compelled to participate.  

Jackie enjoys geocaching.  She volunteers to run a weekly adventure to local caches.  It was her idea, and she knows the demands.

If you are volunteering, I hope you are satisfied with the terms, and if not you shouldn't feel bad about the next time you are asked to volunteer and agree, but on your terms.
